Toddler Time!

Edit Posted by with No comments
Oh, Sweet Baby of Mine, we attended Toddler Time at the library yesterday for the first time.  I would have to say it was a HIT!  I was sure you would settle in on my lap and take it all in, but alas...

You were definitely the first kiddo to start milling around the room.  Just look at you go!  You laughed and clapped and visited all the other kids and moms.

Storytime actually started with the librarian taking out this puppet.  That got your attention right off the bat, and you were pretty much moving in for a closer look from the moment we sat down.  We did take a front row seat on the carpet so it was pretty easy access for you.

There were LOTS of songs. We sang and clapped and stomped our feet and danced around.  You worked the room, and that was fine with me.

There was a song where everyone got a scarf to wave around.  Here you are picking out a scarf for yourself.  See the bucket the scarves are in?  You did pick up the entire bucket and try to walk off with it.  :)

Here you are zeroing in on that bucket.  No pics of the actual incident.  Mama had to put down the camera and help you redirect your energies.

The story this week was about making apple pie and sharing with everyone.  It was really cute and held your attention for a while.  Then you started working the room again.  I think you were fascinated with all the other kids and people there.  And everyone seemed happy to greet you so it all worked out just fine.

Before we left, there was one more song involving maracas.  Everyone got one to shake around throughout the song.  You were more interested in collecting them and putting them in a little pile.  When it was time to return them to the bucket, you were a pro at helping.  ....and then you tried to make off with that bucket too.
Here you are making a little pile of them.

Of note, these pics don't do justice to the number of people there.  There were moms and kids EVERYWHERE!  And they just kept piling in throughout the class!  You were uninhibited, of course.
Also, this class is recommended for ages 18 months to 3 years. so you are on the younger end of the age groups this class is tailored to.  In any case, you did awesome and I'm so proud of you.
This group meets every Tuesday morning, so I think we've found ourselves a new little weekly activity.
Oh, and you gave the librarian a high five on the way out.
I am so in love with you, baby girl.  You amaze me so much.
