Lexi at 21 Months

Edit Posted by with No comments
Another month has crept up on us.  But you have hit a ton of milestones this month, as usual.  Here's a little overview of all you are doing now.

Teething is the name of the game again this month.  But you have been a super trooper.  You never really fuss about it, but you are super drooly and your appetite has plummeted. You did finally cut your upper left incisor on 1/21 and the upper right on 1/22.  You are still working on the ones on the bottom now.  I'm sure those won't be too far behind.

You are now "walking" downstairs on your butt - one at a time, holding on to the rail.  Daddy taught you this trick and is in charge of overseeing it every time you come downstairs.

You are suddenly into numbers now.  You are counting to 5 now, 10 with help.  I am fascinated by this.  I feel like numbers are a hard concept for babies to learn.  It's not a tangible thing that we can hold up and show you.  But you are really catching on quickly.  Of course, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse reinforces this often too.

It's really sweet and cute that you have started to "pet Mama", as you say.  You pet me like you pet a pup and then you say "pet Mama".  It's adorable.

Speaking of pups, you now refer to Izzie as "Sissy Lu", or "Lu Lu", and also "Izzie" and "Sis".

It's easier to point out things that you can't quite say yet than things that you can.  Your vocabulary is off the charts and you talk all the time.  You repeat everything and have very little trouble with most words.  But your "y's" are a little off at this point.  You say "lellow" instead of "yellow" and "ogurt" instead of "yogurt".  Same with your "n's".  You say "stam up" for "stand up" and "cleam up" for "clean up".  It's precious, and I don't correct it.  I know it's shortlived.  You already no longer calls ducks "cucks".  :(

This month your toy of choice are big wooden puzzles.  We spend lots of time every day putting them all together and you do a great job with them. You also love blocks.  Now you are building big towers with them, and yell "timber" when they fall over.

You are answering yes to lots of things now.  The no phase was very shortlived.  You say what you mean now.

We are also teaching you please, thank you, you're welcome, and excuse me.  Again, I think this is a hard concept for kids to understand because it's not a tangible thing.  However, our babysitter was really complimentary this month, saying you were "thanking" her for lots of things.

You are doing much better with holding hands to walk now, and you walk much more than we carry you now too.

This month was the first snow of the season for you.  You rode a sled for the first time and loved it.  You played in the snow with the other kids and had a big time.

Your newest phrase is "Lexi do it".  You like doing things for yourself.  And you often refer to yourself in the third person.  It's so precious.

You are talking in multi word sentences now.  For example, you said this morning "oh no, piggy fall down" when you dropped your pig off the couch.  It's coming on fast now.

Finally, we just returned from a visit to Evansville.  You ate fried shrimp by the boatload at Canton Inn.  Daddy was overjoyed.  :)

You are a precious and wonderful gift.  I love, love, love you, Babydoll.
